RAINBOW Rising Deluxe Edition Due Soon; Details Revealed

On February 28th in the UK and March 8th in North America, Universal Music Enterprises will be releasing a Deluxe Edition of RAINBOW's classic album Rising.

Rising (also known as Rainbow Rising) was released in 1976, with founder Ritchie Blackmore (ex-DEEP PURPLE at the time) retaining only Ronnie James Dio (ex-ELF at the time) from the band's debut album (Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow) album. He recruited keyboard player Tony Carey, bassist Jimmy Bain and drummer Cozy Powell (ex-JEFF BECK at the time) to complete the new line-up. Recorded in Munich in less than a month, the album was overseen by Deep Purple engineer and rock producer Martin Birch who would later find success with BLACK SABBATH, IRON MAIDEN WHITESNAKE and BLUE ÖYSTER CULT. The album marks Dio's first work with bassist Jimmy Bain: Bain would later play bass in Dio's solo band.

Rising peaked at #48 on Billboard's Pop Albums chart.
